Pseudo Life
(2018)
(collaborative with Emerson Devlin)
Interactive digital print and crayons
A small expansion on the basic ideas of Foley, in a much more physical and interactive form. Pseudo Life began as a picture of me going out for a dinner date with my current partner and taking a picture while on the date. I then drew the Foley character over her face and allowed her to shift colors and scribble however she saw fit, so she was in a way contributing to the moment. I then printed the digital drawing and placed it on a wall and left crayons with the piece stating “Share the Moment” so others would write on the print. The entire process by its finish was meant to replicate that of posting an intimate moment and the idea that once you openly share that moment meant to be between said individuals, it then just becomes a moment belonging to the collective consciousness and gives them the power to interpret it.
This piece was featured in the group exhibitions COPIOUS (2018) with the Godine Family Gallery and Love Letters (2019) with Massart North Gallery
