The Traveling Resident

(2018)

Mixed media miniature in a mirror box

An inaugural venture into the subject matter of home, The Traveling Resident seeks to convey a different vivid memory from childhood into a singular object. The memories were sourced from a sense of stress and anger surrounding moving multiple times while growing up, and the distraught of up-rooting and throwing away belongings that follow those experiences. The physical form of the piece came in a miniature, locked within a mirror box, that only allowed the viewer to look through a tiny window on the side of the box. This ultimately is intended to allow the viewer through the window and rippled mirror to see the scene of a family moving in an almost dream like experience.

This piece was featured in the solo exhibition The Getaway City (2019) and the group exhibition All-School Show (2019), both hosted by the Godine Family Gallery
